More Than 60 Years of Ohio Camping History
Locals still call it Fennwood. Here's why.
The Fennwood Years
Long before it was Gotta Getaway RV Park, this land in Bellevue, Ohio was Fennwood — a skeet shooting range that hosted competitive shoots throughout the 1950s and '60s, drawing shooters from across the region for events like the Buckeye Open and the Firelands Open. In 1961, Fennwood built a swimming pool on the property. There's almost nothing about Fennwood left on the internet today — but ask around Bellevue, and plenty of locals still call this place by that name.
From Jellystone to Lazy J to Gotta Getaway
Over the decades, the property changed hands and identities more than once — operating for a time as a Jellystone Park, then as Lazy J, before becoming Gotta Getaway RV Park in 2012. In 2021, we purchased the park and made it a family-owned business — and we've been investing in it ever since: a new arcade, GaGa Ball, site renovations, and in 2026, a brand-new resort-style heated pool that replaced the original 1961 Fennwood pool.
Why We Don't Do Hidden Fees
Our flat-rate pricing isn't a marketing angle — it's personal. When we travel, we hate seeing a clean price balloon with resort fees, parking fees, and credit card surcharges tacked on at checkout. We built Gotta Getaway around the opposite idea: what you see is what you pay. We do have a few optional add-ons — late check-out, site lock, honey wagon service — but they're exactly that: optional, clearly listed, never sprung on you. A family with three kids and their dog shouldn't have to brace for surprise charges on what's already an expensive trip — because here, we consider everyone family, paws included.
